Thank YouJune 26, 2007
Dear Friends,
I assume by now that you have seen "Spider-Man 3." It is my sincerest desire that you enjoyed the film as much as we enjoyed making it. Hopefully, via this website, you gained a unique insight into the process through which the movie was made, while obtaining an education on filmmaking as a whole.
I want to take a moment to thank you for reading my posts over the years and for watching the webisodes. Just as it has been my honor to carry a very small portion of the Spider-Man torch that has been passed down through the generations since Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created the franchise over 40 years ago, it has likewise been my honor to interact with each and every one of you. I often start out my posts with the salutation, "Dear Friends," and I mean this wholeheartedly.
Until Next Time!
Grant Curtis

Hello Mr. Curtis. I've enjoyed growing up with these movies, as they have made me a fan of the original franchise. It is my hope that you all are proud of your work in spite of the mixed reactions, and some day in the future feel inspired to do another. Whatever the turnout, these movies will stay with me forever.

Alanah Annis,
Thank you so much for the kind words. Glad the wait was worth it. 3 years was a long time, but it takes a long time to make these big movies. & believe me, just as you were excited about seeing the movie throughout those three years, we were equally excited for you guys to see it as well. Sometimes the toughest part for us too is having to wait the 3 years. Glad you enjoyed.

Hi Grant-
It's been a great experience!! I first would like to thank you very much, for being one of the producers of Spider-Man and bringing him to life. It will always be the original Spider-Man films, in my eyes if they make more. Also, I'm glad you put a lot into making a extended cut of Spider-Man 2!! I absolutely love it. I know that I'm telling you about it now, but I didn't get a chance to, because you were going around the world for Spider-Man 3!!
But, I have to say Spider-Man 3 is very well done. It has action, a great story and it has humor to it. I do hope though, that maybe sometime next year perhaps, you could make a Spider-Man 3 extended cut or Director's cut? I've seen some great pictures of scenes that weren't in Spider-Man 3, which I think they should.
I think Spider-Man 3 is good, though I think Sandman should have more screen time, and I think Eddie Brock shoold be explored a bit for the character. Also, I was really hoping for the Sandcastle scene. I think that would've been better for Eddie and Flint to meet, and to get together, to battle Spider-Man. Other than that, it's perfect. I remember Thomas in a interview, said that there was four endings to Sandman's Spider-Man's scene. Also, if there's is going to be a extended version, would there be a final swing, maybe perhaps with M.J.?
Sorry for asking so much, I guess I'll have to ask just a few more questions on another post. Also, tell you what the Spider-Man films have done for me.
Have a great summer with your family and friends!

Liam,
Hope you are having a great summer with your family and friends as well.
To be honest with you, I don't know what the future holds in terms of additional DVD releases beyond the theatrical version. I will tell you this though, we are currently busily preparing the "Spider-Man 3" DVD and I think we are going to be coming at you with a product that is going to knock your socks off. We are having a blast putting it together - reliving old moments, meetings, days of filming, etc. I think you are going to be pleased.
Also, thanks for your views about what you wished could have been different about "Spider-Man 3." It is always educational to read not only what people enjoy about the film, but also the places they have concerns about.
Be safe,
Grant

Hey Grant,
Absolutely loved the movie. The first two were great and I thought the effort and love that definitely went into the third one showed on the screen. I ended up seeing the flick five times on the big screen, just as many times as I had seen the second. Such a fantastic movie, I can't give you guys enough credit.
Beside your online blog, I also read the 'Making Of' books for Spider-Man 2 and 3. Both were excellent books, especially the latter. Despite its mammoth 200-something pages, I managed to read it in a couple of days. You really went into every last detail and as someone who's hoping to be a filmmaker one day(fittingly inspired by the first of the series to make movies), I loved every bit of it. I can't thank you enough.
Just one last question, and I'm sure you get these enough, but a friend and me wrote up a treatment for a possible Spider-Man 4 as well as a few beginning script pages. Is there any way I could send this to you?
Thank you and good luck in everything else you do,
Eddy

I can't wait till Spider-Man 4 and the mysterious Spider-Man 3 DVD. I've been here for over a year and a half on this website, eagerly following all the news, blogs, and videos to learn more about this movie, and I am proud to say I was anything but disappointed on May 4th. Spider-man 3, to put it simple, was incredible. Every single bit of the movie felt like it popped straight out of the comics, especially the symboite and sandman scenes. I've read in your book (which was worth the $50) and your blogs how extensive the visual effects were, and trust me: they paid off! They were mind-blowingly cool.
I especially loved your cameo. I thought I was the only in the theatre to know who you were, so I began to whisper to my friend next to me that the guy in the armored truck was the producer, when I heard the girl a couple rows behind me telling her friend the same!
I am eagerly anticipating the spider-man 3 DVD and all the special features in store for us, but anticipating the next movie even more.
Thank you so much to you and the team for making these movies, and drop by the spider-man network movie forums sometime. Hope to see you there!

Hello Mr. Curtis
I'd like to say first off SPIDER-MAN 3 was a fantastic film, and well worth the wait . I'm also Glad it was a huge success @ The Box Office making a Domestic Total of $335,073,357 & Worldwide: $885,982,864 . IMO it's by far the best Summer blockbuster movie of 2007 .
I am eagerly waiting for the SPIDER-MAN 3 DVD and can't wait to see all the cool special features in store .
I hope to God, You, Raimi, Tobey , Kristen & The rest of the Gang return for spidey 4 .
I'd love to see Peter & Mary Jane finally get married & to see The Lizard as the villian .
You guys did an awesome job bring to life both VENOM & SANDMAN . I hope you'll get the chance to do The Lizard and the other classic villians of spidey in the future movies .Without Sam Raimi at the helm The Spidey movies wouldn't be as Amazing as they are .So I hope to see you, Raimi , Tobey, Kristen back for movie 4 & beyond .

Hello Grant
I think Spider-Man 3 is the best movie in the world.
I cried when Harry died. I hope the whole crew returns in 2009 or 2010 for Spider-Man 4. The villains I would like to see are: Lizard and Hobgoblin getting his weapons, armour and glider from Kingpin. If we'd see Carnage as villain I would like to see Mordo, War Machine, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Venom returning and a bit of Dormammu. I would also like to see Pete and MJ finally getting married. And I hope Felica Hardy is mentioned as Jason Macendale's (Hobgoblin) girlfriend (if Hobgoblin will b in Spidey 4).
Have a great summer!

Peter,
Wow. Thanks for the kind words. A lot of the credit for Venom and Sandman goes to Sam, but a lot also goes to the great Marvel artists and then, on the film production side, Costume Designer James Acheson and Visual Effects Supervisor Scott Stokdyk who both worked tirelessly on the practical and CG versions of those characters. As you can imagine, there is a lot of time and talent that goes into bringing these beloved characters to the big screen.
Be well,
Grant

Mr. Curtis,
I eagerly scooped up your book and have truly enjoy devouring its glorious contents. I've been savoring your recounts of the successes and challenges, great and small, of each day's events, all relayed with such wit and eloquence, that were producing no longer of interest to you, you might do well to permanently embrace the quill. Your sentiments on Tobey's final day of shooting were especially moving to me and I appreciate the truth and kindness you expressed towards him.
I will miss coming here and reading your spectacular cloud-bursts of new information and insight into the big-budget, filmmaking world. Even as I have cursed it, I already mourn the absense of the long-suffering hype, but the information you shared helped make the wait bearable. I have seen Spider-Man 3, in all its magnificence, an impressive 8 times in theaters and likely will cap it off once more before it leaves the silver screen. As ungrateful as this sounds, I find myself aching for another chapter and grieving the dismantling of this great team. I miss the anticipation of it all, the next big masterpiece. But I stray from the purpose of this post, which is to offer thanks and congratulations to you and the entire team for a job well done.
Sincererly, Thank You,

Hey Grant!
Can't wait for number 4! I think you guys did a perfect job on Venom and on the film it's self except for the fact that well even though I am a huge Venom fan *hint* to the name, lol umm I think in the scene when Dr. Connors is inspecting the symbiote I think you guys could have explained it's weaknesses a little even though I know Venom's weaknesses, people who don't know much of who Venom is they probably wouldn't have, and by the way will there be any chance for Carnage in 4? Anway hope you get this message soon!

#73 | Posted by: akram | August 7, 2007 4:51 AM
Hey, Grant.
Just saying that I really enjoyed Spider-man 3. I saw it on the first night and haven't got round to commenting earlier, so I'm doing it now. I really hope that Peter leaving the Symbiote sample at Connor's lab was a hint to Carnage in four. He's the villian I want alongside Lizard (It's obvious that Lizard will be in four! If he isn't I'm going to personally hire Deadpool...) and possibly Scorpion as a Side-villian. It's obvious that Venom is dead, so I'm not going to go on about how you better bring Venom back, blah blah blah. He's dead. I know. It was there, Eddie's skeleton. So, I hope Raimi, Maguire and Dunst return for four, and if Carnage is in it, I want David Tennant (The current Doctor Who and Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), since he can play a maniac really well.
Thanks,
Climps.
PS. Pop by the Official SM movie boards soon!

I just have a question though, do you know by any chance if Lizard's going to make his appearance finally in spider-man 4? I've been waiting for him for so long also, I think it'd be cool to have Scorpion along with him too. I mean, it could explain to the people why JJJ dislikes Spidey so much. I do like your idea of kraven being in there too though, it'd be cool to see him hunt and fight the Lizard while Spidey's trying to stop them both. But do you think it'd be good to use only 2 villains this time? Imean I liked 3 in the last movie but I think this one should have more story with it but still with a lot of action. I'm looking forward to your reply. Thanks.

Dear Grant:
Hi, I just wanted to pop by and say a few things. First I enjoyed the movie and first I thought it was going fast the action and the scenes. When I saw it the second time it was all fine except for three things: There was abit too much Peter and MJ like too much drama, Peter had more screentime than Spider-man himslf and also Sandman scenes were abit short. Oh and why did you guys killed off Venom? Its fine by me. Also is there any chance for Lizard or Carnage being in the next flim? Thank you for your time.

Hi Grant! I loved SM3. It was so good. Definitly one of my all time favorites. I really hope you do a SM4. I would be so happy. Especially if you use the Lizard. He's one of my favorite villians. Thanks for reading my coments!

Hey Grant, when i went to see spider-man 3 at midnight i was so hyped when i saw the marvel logo. The movie didn't dissapoint me one bit. I left the theatre very satisfied. The movie blew me away. The sandman scenes were AMAZING! You and your team are very awesome.I can't wait for the dvd to come out. Will there be deleted scenes in the dvd? You should come to check out the boards some time.

Just curious, have you talked to Alfred Molina lately? ^_^ I hope he does come back for the 4th movie. Cuz, a Sinister Six wouldn't be much without him. That was sad what happend to Harry. ^_^
Hope your summer has been good.

Hey Grant, I loved SM3 it's probably one of the besy of the trilogy I'd say. I have a question though, is there any chance that Dylan will finally get to be the Lizard in SM4, I've really been waiting for that and if Kraven also makes it then would you consider casting Oded Fehr to play him, he looks just like him and I think he'd fit into the cast very well. Looking forward to your reply, thanks.

Hi...Grant
One of the most exciting things was the MUSIC, I think that Chiristopher Young made a great job, the main titles is just increibe the way he remade the original version and all the music in the movie made each scene more exciting. I relly enjoed it.

Hi Grant-
I would like to ask about the "Original Motion Picture Score" for "Spider-Man 3!!" Someone said on a Chris Young site, that "Sony" is not going to produce one. Is this true or a rumor? There's so many fans in the world that adores the scores to these films you've brought to us. I don't not believe that this is true. It just can't be. It wouldn't be fare at all. I really like what Chris did with Danny's work. He just brought another great essence to this great franchise!! If you can make a new "Spider-Man 2" than you can please help with this matter. If it's a true fact. My Uncle, Ronald Sadoff, a composer & professor of N.Y.U.! Knows and is friends with Chris. He was going to get me a autogragh for the score soundtrack when it came out. From Chris, the next time my Uncle comes to California. But, I don't know if that will happen.
Well, Grant. Thank you for everything you've wrote back to me with. I hope your producing of films career goes very well. Also, you should become a member of the "Spider-Man Movie Network." Everyone is very kind on there. If you could maybe post things everyonce and while, when you have the chance to. I hope to maybe meet you one day, just to talk. I might, because I want to become an actor. I enjoy it very much, acting. Maybe you'll produce a film, I'm in. Which would be an honor to work with you. I'm shadow_spidey on the boards, over there.
Thank you and others that help make these magnificent films possible. Have a great rest of your summer, hope things go well with the dvds. Have a great rest of the year.

hi
emm...
well i just wanted to tell you that your work was really good, but I and my friends think that Spider-man 3 needed a little more, like the black suit, we though that peter would make more use of it, and venom could make more fights again Spider-man, we wanted to see more Venom!! and sandman i seem that he wanted to kill spidey, his punches were so painful that the people that was in the movie wanted to cry, we wanted more fights because my friend Arturo and I when we saw all those inedit images we though: ohhhhhhh my god this is going to be the best movie of ever but..... well not enough and the hair of peter, he is not a nerd he is now a super hero and we think tha Spider-man movies are not following enough the comic, i know that changes are good but don´t get out of the comic please without sense but well you still have the chance and the opportunity to make another movie and i hope that you make a good job and the most thing i liked is when the movie starts in the credits song of the start. well thanks
Alejandroand Arturo. be well.
